I had run out of bread and didn’t feel like eating that store bought stuff. So I pulled out my breadmaker and made this. WOW..very dense and nutritious, definitely a keeper recipe!
Flax Sunflower Seed Bread (Breadmaker recipe)
Place following ingredients (in order listed) into the bread machine. Do not use Sunflower seeds for the initial cycle though.
1 1/3 cups water
2 Tbsp softened margarine (I used earth balance)
3 Tbsp Honey (could use agave as well)
1 1/2 cups white flour
1 1/3 cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp active dry yeast (I use the one made for breadmachines)
1/2 cup flax seeds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds (ONLY Add these when the breadmaker alerts during the knead cycle, this is specifically to let you know to put in add-ins )
Select the “White Bread” button and the 1.5lb loaf. I chose a light crust.
I ate this with my homemade strawberry jam this morning. Amazing! I am tempted to replace the honey with molasses next time.
