The $25 Logo & Business Card Design Budget

So you have a small business or blog and want a logo and business card design done on a small budget. You look around and realize that this can cost from $200+! Yikes! As much as I love to pay artists for what they are worth, sometimes the money just isn’t there to get these things done. I set a small budget to get designs I needed and opted to use Fiverr.com to do it.
I spent $15 in total for logo design and asked three different designers to come up with something.
I won’t bother sharing the first logo because it was TERRIBLE. I could have done a better job myself. This second one is nice and simple but wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. I liked that he drew the face himself and appreciated that small touch. I also like the font a lot. Here it is:
Then, I finally found someone who really knew her stuff. She designed about 10 logos for me to choose from and if you have been reading my blog, you saw them all in an earlier post. This girl was awesome. $5 for all that work!! Wow. Here is the $5 logo I picked which was going to be used in the business card design: (I took advice from artists and designers to make a final decision)

If you want to hire the woman who did this logo, here is her Fiverr.com page: http://fiverr.com/users/jannybee
Seriously, this girl is amazing. If you need a logo or whatever else designed, ask her!
I spent $10 in total on business card design and asked two different designers to come up with something for me.
Here is the first business card design I received. I didn’t like that the drawing of me was so big and then realized having me in the business card was a bit narcissistic (at least that’s how it looked to me). I wanted to have the whole card made through Fiverr.com gigs which is the reason I opted to add the graphic in the first business card design. The guy was good and even did a few free revisions however it just wasn’t what I was looking for. He did give me what I asked for but after seeing it I changed my mind! In the end, I didn’t go for this design:
Here is his Fiverr.com page: http://fiverr.com/users/narcisis (this guy does not have ANY bad reviews! He was pleasant to work with too.)
The thing is, I wanted something really simple and the second design from another person came out like this:
This guy delivered the same day and also asked me if I wanted revisions. I asked him for something simple and he did deliver simplicity in his design. If you need something done fast and efficiently, this guy will do your logo or design within 24hrs.! Here is his Fiverr.com gig page: http://fiverr.com/users/adyz
If you are interested in the drawing I had done, I got it done from this picture:

I worked with this photographer to expand her portfolio and got free pictures in exchange for my time. The shoot was a lot of fun and she was great!! Here is her website: http://www.jenngregory.com/
And ended up with two drawings from it here: (one colour and one b&w) – For only $5 (BOTH!)
I am going to hire this guy again to do more work in the future. Want to hire him? Here is his Fiverr.com gig page: http://fiverr.com/users/peipei
When you are on a budget and want to get something done, try perusing Fiverr.com, place an add online (Craigslist, Kijiji…) or bartering is also an option if you’d like to trade with a local person for services Good luck to all and if you have any favourite Fiverr.com gigs, please feel free to share!

Wow – all the designs are quite nice actually. I like what was done with b-card 1 : ok, the drawing might be a bit big, but the fact that is it a “drawing” and not an outright picture works (otherwise I would think of real estate agent cards)
lol
Don’t forget to ask a friend too! Sometimes a friend with a bit of time on their hand might just do it for free, with the added bonus if they are close enough, that you don’t have to describe as much to them as they “know” their client already. But 5$ is a steal! Nicely done.
Thanks guys! David, sadly I don’t know anyone who would/could have done it for free.
So Fiverr.com was my next best bet!
I think you are too modest; the card with the drawing of you looks fine, not narcissistic at all. In fact, I would say it’s an improvement over the typical flat boring card and a helpful aid to people who have trouble reconnecting business cards with faces later on. I’m going to steal this idea for my personal card.
I’m happy to see you’re getting so much use out of Fiverr, it truly is a largely-untapped source of talent.
Thank you Charleen! I still haven’t made a decision regarding the card, your input is greatly appreciated
