Forego Pills & Heal Naturally!

Sadly I had a terrible stomach flu the other day. I endured about 3 hours of pain at work. I had a rough time but I just decided to drink water and breathe through it. When I arrived home, I was in pain for an other hour or so, then nausea decided to pay me a visit, just for fun. Luckily the nausea only lasted about an hour and then my body decided to reject whatever food I had put in there that day. (Oh and I’m sure you really wanted to know this, I promise there is a point to the story)
I rarely get sick (usually once a year for about a day..so I guess this was it!). Needless to say, I get very pissy when I get sick because it debilitates me. Obviously, I want my body to heal fast.
Since I am stubborn, the only thing I did was chew mint gum & drink water. Despite my discomfort, I didn’t take any pills, nor did I suck back any Pepto Bismol…absolutely nothing. The best thing to do when feeling ill, is to let your body handle it on its own even if it’s challenging (trust me, this was not easy). Let those fancy cells in your body attack those nasty bugs in your system! Since I rarely take anything, my immune system is quite strong and my body doesn’t take long to heal itself. Once the few hours of pain and discomfort were over, my body was ready to start healing.
Here are some natural remedies for nausea:
*Ginger & Mint (Both can be ingested by making a tea or eating fresh) The smell of fresh mint alone will help. If you have essential oils, put a few drops on a tissue and place on your pillow. I wasn’t feeling great so I just grabbed a piece of mint gum, a bottle of water and laid down.
As New Age as this sounds, I also did some Reiki on my stomach while at work. I just placed my hands on it and would breathe to make the pain more tolerable. Even if you don’t know what Reiki is, placing your hands where it hurts and breathing through it can help. Why do you think that when we hurt ourselves, the first thing we do is put our hand on it?
The point of this story is that you DON’T need Contact C, Neo Citran, Pepto Bismol, Gaviscon, Advil or anything else. I know it’s tough to resist these over the counter remedies but trust me, if you rely on them, you always will and your body will just take longer to heal in the end. Give your body the chance to heal itself even if it is challenging at first. If you need to take 2 days off work then do it. Your health is more important than a few extra dollars (at least I think so)!
Most people also do not get to the root of their problem and just pop whatever medication they are told to take. Perhaps you have a headache because you are dehydrated? A simple glass or two of water will fix that! So before you run to the drugstore for your latest over the counter remedy, let your body do its job, tackle the discomfort and you won’t be sick for long.
