Upcycling Cereal Bags with TerraCycle
| April 27, 2012 | Posted by under Green Living |
I recently purchased some Sally’s Cereal for the Airbnb guests. I like the fact that the cereal is stored solely in a bag, not accompanied by a box. These cereals are free of artificial ingredients AND they are very affordable. After the bag was empty, I was reading it to find out if the bag can be recycled and noticed that they have paired up with TerraCycle (Canada) & TerraCycle (US) to upcycle their cereal bags and raise money for charity. Double awesomeness. I had to check this out.
This is how it works:
You sign up for free on TerraCycle. When you have collected enough cereal bags, you print out a shipping label, place it on the box or package and send it to them. You’ll receive 2 points per bag sent. 1000 points are worth $10. This money can be donated to the charity of your choice. When you set up your account, you also choose a charity which you would like to donate this money to.
If you ARE a charity, this is a perfect way to collect donations from people!
These bags are upcycled and turned into useful items to help schools or organizations. Check it out.
I’ll be buying my cereal in bags. Can’t wait. If anyone has a charity in Canada they’d like me to donate this money to, please email me. WOuld love to hear your suggestions.
