No Knead, No Fail Artisan French Bread

Ok, so I am on this bread kick lately. Ever since I managed to succeed with the first yeast bread I made this week, I’ve been after other recipes and itching to test them. On Thriftyfun.com, I found another no fail recipe which turned out amazingly wonderful. It’s a nice french type bread with a hard crust. You can shape this dough any way you like. I decided to make two round balls. Here it is!
No Knead, No Fail Artisan French Bread
2 cups warm water (not hot!)
2 tbsp of yeast
1 Tbsp salt
5 cups of flour (I used 3 cups of white and 2 cups of whole wheat but you can use anything you have)
Mix yeast and warm water, then add 1 cup of flour at a time, adding the 1 Tbsp of salt in between. After adding 3 cups you’ll have to start
mixing with your hands. Mix until well blended. Shape into a large ball, cover with plastic wrap and let rise for about 18hrs in a warm spot. (recipe says 12-18 but I did 18). I placed my bread dough on the stove (though it wasn’t on of course). Then, shape dough however you wish. I split mine in two and made round balls. You can also shape dough like baguettes or rectangle loaves. Place on greased cookie sheet, sprinkle with flour, score a few times with a knife on top, then bake for 55-60mins at 425F.
When they were all done, my partner said that they looked like loaves that came from the bakery! This would make a great gift along with some homemade jam.Next time, I will add a few tbsp of Red River Cereal or some whole grain cereal.
Enjoy!!
