You know that I watch a lot of documentaries on food and food politics. I was very impressed with this one and want to share it with you.

FORKS OVER KNIVES
Here is the synopsis:
What has happened to us? Despite the most advanced medical technology in the world, we are sicker than ever by nearly every measure. Two out of every three of us are overweight. Cases of diabetes are exploding, especially amongst our younger population. About half of us are taking at least one prescription drug. Major medical operations have become routine, helping to drive health care costs to astronomical levels. Heart disease, cancer and stroke are the country’s three leading causes of death, even though billions are spent each year to “battle” these very conditions. Millions suffer from a host of other degenerative diseases. Could it be there’s a single solution to all of these problems? A solution so comprehensive but so straightforward, that it’s mind-boggling that more of us haven’t taken it seriously? “Forks Over Knives” examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods. The major storyline in the film traces the personal journeys of a pair of pioneering researchers, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn.

I have fired the url off to some who I think will watch it. I follow a gluten free vegan diet & have since 1997 when I got a multiple sclerosis dx.
I was never too stout … highest weight about 140lb on my 5’6 frame but before the dx I was eating dairy & bread. I am now much more slender but more importantly prance about everywhere & go hill walking when possible.
I am also often taken for being at least 10 years younger than my birth certif age! Could be the diet or mebbe a life of no sunbathing or smoking. Either way, I get lovely things to eat & what is most important I can walk.
That’s great Anne! This documentary is a lot better than others I’ve seen covering this subject. I find this one more informative, less preachy and probably a better film to show mainstream people (meat/dairy eaters) without them feeling defensive. I will probably recommend it to a few more people.
We sound similar: I am 5’6″ as well but have been roughly 160lbs at my heaviest (meat/dairy days). I am about 115lbs right now and feel great. I eat local/whole organic foods, try to avoid wheat and I walk a lot!! People think I am a decade younger too! Isn’t that awesome?
