Penny Jar count after 8 months!

After saving pennies for 8 months now (see original post on this), I have collected $6 in change which is an average of almost 3 pennies a day saved. I haven’t been great with it the last few months and actually forgot to add to the jar for awhile so I was a little disappointed. I will take these pennies and buy a gift card with it (coffee!) which will be given to a friend for their birthday so it’s not all lost. I am contuing this penny jar project and will be cashing in every 6 months to buy gift cards. Maybe it’s only $6 but it’s money
My partner has been collecting change but doesn’t like rolling the pennies so he’s handing them over to me so perhaps I’ll make it to $10! Don’t forget to ask for donations from friends and family!
So imagine if you would have tossed all those pennies into fountains or left them at the store for people to take in case they needed one. Now here’s $6 in change that could have been tossed. It’s not much but it’s something and with that I can actually buy a decent amount of seasonal produce too.
So keep collecting those pennies and hopefully you’ll save more than me!

The gift card idea is a really good one. I save change and always end up poaching the quarters for laundry, but even so, every two or three months I have $15 to $20 in other coins.
My bank lets me exchange for cash for free, so no rolling, thank goodness. I love fiddly tasks but that’s a little too much even for me!
Wow that’s awesome that you don’t have to roll Caroline! I know they do this in the Netherlands too, you just throw your change in this big compartment and it counts it for you and deposits the amount directly into your bank account. I wish they had that system here. Sadly I still have to roll everything myself. I had never had a penny jar before so this was a fun project I will continue and will just use the money for gift cards and store them away for gifts.
