ABOUT
The Frugal Vegan Blog is an indie/alternative one which will include: rants, food & bath/body recipes, budget and finance ideas, green living and anything else I can share about living on a budget!
I am mostly vegan but not 100%….
IMPORTANT NOTE: There has been some confusion regarding the title of this blog. My zines (The Frugal Vegan Series) were published over 11 years ago when I was vegan but due to some unfortunate health issues and sickness the past couple of years, I was forced to make some changes and am no longer able to be 100% vegan. Unfortunately, some readers have not been very accepting about this fact and I have not shared on this blog the details as to why because believe it or not, I don’t share everything about my life on here. ![]()
It is my wish that the vegan extremists who are out there can accept this or they will have go find another blog to read. Personally, I believe that we should applaud anyone who decides to make a conscious change in bettering this world and lessening the suffering of animals, whether by becoming vegan, vegetarian or even eating meatless a few times a week. This world is not perfect and neither are people. Change happens very slowly. Perhaps someday, the whole world will stop eating animals but until then, we should encourage and educate those who are actively trying to make this change, regardless of how big or small – and leave any negative accusing judgements behind. Those of you older readers (like myself) will understand this message more than the younger audience. ![]()
Please feel free to post comments and suggestions. Hateful and judgmental comments will not be tolerated.
Enjoy this blog! Peace.

It was nice to meet you in the coffee shop today!
Hi there!
I just wanted to say that I really, truly love your blog. Your money-saving advice is and has been so helpful for a less-than rich (that’s an understatement, haha)student like myself. It’s really nice to read a positive blog with such a friendly person behind it! Thanks for creating the Frugal Vegan!
Hope you have a fabulous trip to Iceland!
All the best,
Natalie
Love your blog. We are a frugal family of 4.
Thanks so much! So glad you are enjoying it!
I just got both of your frugal vegan harvest and holiday guides. They are AWESOME! Thanks for taking the time to write them, you had some of the best ideas ever in them!
The download has the file extension .aspx, and is opening in Dreamweaver as a nonsensical string of characters. You will need to make sure your download ends in .pdf (not .aspx, which is a web page (Active Server Page Extended). These types of files will not open in Adobe reader.
Please either repost a PDF or send a PDF.
As a frugal vegan family of four, your meal plan will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Hi – my name is meg, and I am the founder of peace. love. swap – we help moms start a successful kid’s clothing and gear swap in their own community. It’s a great way to earn extra cash, be green, save money and give back to your community – if you could help me spread the word about the swapping movement, it would be appreciated.
thanks!

I wanted to comment on today’s blog but don’t see a place for comment: just want to say I agree wholeheartedly with you. When I was growing up we didn’t have any “prefabricated” food. I watched Jamie Oliver’s program where he tried to get one of the schools to eat better and couldn’t believe the resistance by the staff. I watched them make chicken nuggets, and they didn’t even end up as food. Here in Mass. some of the radio commentators are outraged that some groups, such as “Nutrition Action” are trying to get everyone to eat healthier. They say it’s an infringement of their privacy. And apparently a lot of people agree with them. I very seldom use coupons, either. There isn’t much that I would buy with them.
Maggie, yes, it’s amazing how dumb or stuck in their ways people are! In the documentary I watched, in Sommerville, MA they had an initiative to get the town back into shape. They did get government funding but they needed 15million and they got 150K….sad but true. Though they did make a lot of progress in the town! This is it here: http://www.somervillema.gov/departments/health/sus
I also saw that in some schools, vending machines were banned and parents retaliated by standing outside the school grounds handing their kids candy, chips and pop. Disgusting. I couldn’t believe it. As my mom says: “We are not all born with the same amount of brain cells”. What do you do if you educate people and they don’t want to hear it?
I don’t know how this happened, but when you switched over to the new blog this spring, I couldn’t find you! I am so happy I googled you today–so many wonderful archives to read. I missed your voice so much over the last few months, and want you to know how much I appreciate your writing.
I wish to thank you for your remarkable blog. You are wonderful!!!
Thanks Monique! I truly appreciate you letting me know.
